As I was traveling back to the office last night, my mind started to think about my stomachs need and desire for food....I started to think about the empty candy jar on my desk...the box of chocolate bars on the lunch room counter....the assortment of goodies at the Tim Horton's on the next corner...then as if my little health conscious Guardian Angel was watching over me....I saw a sign for a little place offering "falafel sandwiches" for $1.99!!! Wow...what's the chances of that! I quickly turned into the mall at the corner of Upper Ottawa and Rymal Road and after a few minutes of searching, I came across Cedar...occupying the corner location, almost right behind the Harvey's. It's hard to find...but believe me...I will never have a problem finding it again! It was getting dark, and the restaurant owner "Phylis" greeted me when I came thru the door. I gingerly walked up to the buffet style display window...and glanced up at the menu, noticing that they had "Grape leaves". 6 for $2.00 . Now, grape leaves hold a special place in my heart, because a very good friend and colleague of mine recently taught me how to make these delicious little numbers. Phylis' grape leaves sure looked authentic...and I ordered 6 of them immediately. She advised me that she makes everything...from scratch...so I tossed in one of those falafel sandwiches that had lured me in, scrapped my take-out plans and decided to eat in. In a few minutes I was eating the absolutely best falafel sandwich ever placed on the earth. It was incredible. The grape leaves were incredible. Then the piece of cashew baklava that I couldn't resist was incredible. Definitely a secret that shouldn't be a secret! Try it out...I guarantee you that you won't be disappointed!!!!
