Not everyone can make a profit in the home renovation/renewing/flipping business and even though there's a few that make a good living from it, there's many that are lucky to get out covering their expenses. It's a tough business that requires a tremendous amount of construction expertise and vision...and most know that if the finished product isn't excellent, it's not going to withstand a home inspection.

The most successful renovators that I've worked with have a complete system and they very seldom stray away from it. They already have solid contacts for their supplies and know what they're going to pay for contract work that they're not doing themselves. They also have a very strict time frame from start to finish, with the ideal scenario being 3 months. If they close on September 1st, they would be pushing to have it completely finished, listed, sold and closed by December 1st.

To the successful renewer, time is money...and the longer they hold onto the property, the less profit they'll make. It doesn't mean that they won't do a quality job...it just means that the have to be an excellent contractor!

Steve Houlihan has a great inexpensive ebook out titled the "10 Deadly Sins of Renovating 4Profit" and if you're in the business or thinking of giving it a try, you should save yourself a few headaches, grab a copy and enjoy your success!!  ..
